| Global Cement Database on CO2 and Energy Information |
Getting the Numbers RightWe've developed a database system based upon real data collected.
To view global and regional data, click here The “Getting the Numbers Right” (GNR) is a voluntary, independently-managed database of CO2 and energy performance information on the global cement industry. Standard web-based reports are available to interested stakeholders. The database delivers uniform, accurate and verified data so that the industry can understand its own current and future performance potential. Key drivers of emissions and performance are also included. The database also provides policy makers with current performance data to aid their analysis and decisions. The GNR database now covers data up to 2008. (Competition law concerns recommend a one-year time lag in the collection of information.) It has grown over the years to cover over 900 cement production facilities, owned by 46 companies, representing approximately 30% of global cement production. Standard web-based reports are available for the following regions and countries
The system is open for all interested parties to view data. The years for which data is available are: 1990, 2000, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. For more complex requests, see Make a Request for GNR system data. Individual queries about specific issues are answered within strict confidentiality guidelines (see below). Charges may be levied on data requests to cover operational costs, especially with regard to complex data requests. The database complies with anti-trust laws and is managed by an independent third party service provider. Individual participants may only see reports based on their individual company data or aggregated results. Confidential information on individual companies or plants is not disclosed, nor made accessible, and is protected by contractual and data security measures. For a detailed explanation of the GNR-system, view the report “Cement Industry Energy and CO2 Performance: ‘Getting the Numbers Right’” here .
