  • While curing, the temperature shouldn’t go below 70 degrees Fahrenheit or 20 degrees. If the temperature goes below than this then there will be consequences like lower permeability and strength which is bad for the structure.
  • Then you will need to use a wet cloth or burlap to cover the cement-applied portion to keep it wet and cure properly. Also, you can use plastic sheets over the surface. It will also help to cure properly and prevent forming cracks on the surface.

By now, the first stage of curing is done and now you will need to use fire to complete the heat curing process. This process is known as calcining.

  • In this stage, you will need to heat the refractory cement. By doing so, if there are any air packets or moisture left, they will be driven off.
  • In the initial phase, the temperature should be 200 degrees Fahrenheit. With time, you will need to increase the temperature gradually until you meet the desired temperature.

After this, the curing cycle will be completed properly!

  • After pouring the cement, you will need to do tapping the mixture. By using the vibrator, you can do so. By this, the air pockets or air bubbles will be removed and you will get a better curing result.
  • If you are residing at a dry place then using wet cloth or burlap is mandatory.
  • Do not apply any secondary coating before fire curing. Because of doing so, there the surface may cause steam explosions. 
  • Don’t raise the temperature during the heat curing process because it can result in poor densification.
