The CSI project adopted a 20-year time horizon, divided into five-year cycles, roughly in keeping with the investment and business planning cycles of the cement industry and also the longer-term policy cycles of governments and international agencies.
In June 2005, the CSI member companies released an interim progress report (859 kb)  and executive summary (273 kb) as promised in the Agenda. The CSI has completed its first five-year segment of work. The CSI member companies produced a full progress report in June 2008.
A communications Task Force coordinates and manages progress reporting and external communications for the program. Newsletters are issued periodically to keep all stakeholders aware of activities and progress. A secure, on-line discussion forum is in place for the members of the Initiative to enable better communication among the global membership.
An annual CEO forum is held in conjunction with the WBCSD Council Meeting each year.
